◆ SW Retreat Camp 2026

Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 2026-09-08. The Spiritual Warrior Project wants every man who feels called to camp to be able to apply, pay and take part — whatever his abilities or the device he is using. This statement covers the platform at app.swproject.co.uk, including the public site, the application form and the members area.

Our commitment

We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA as the standard for this platform, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing part of how we build rather than a one-off fix. We have not yet commissioned a formal external audit; this statement describes what is actually in place today, not a certificate.

What is in place

  • Semantic HTML throughout: real headings in order, landmarks, and a skip-to-content link on every page.
  • Form controls with proper labels, so a screen reader announces what each field is asking for.
  • Keyboard-operable custom controls: every control that looks clickable can be reached and used with Tab, Enter and Space alone.
  • Visible focus: keyboard users always get a clear focus indicator; it is only suppressed for mouse clicks.
  • Announced feedback: errors and confirmations are surfaced through live regions, so screen reader users hear the result of an action without having to hunt for it.
  • Readable contrast: body text meets the WCAG AA contrast ratio.
  • Reduced-motion support: if your device is set to reduce animation, the platform respects that and turns its animations off.

Known limitations

We are not there yet everywhere, and we would rather say so than pretend:

  • PDF resources in the members library depend on how accessible their source files are; older PDFs may not be fully tagged for screen readers.
  • Some of the long-form content in the members area predates our current accessibility work and may not announce changes as smoothly as the newer pages.
  • We test with keyboard navigation and screen reader basics, but we do not yet have a formal test matrix across every assistive technology and browser combination.

Feedback and adjustments

If you hit a barrier anywhere on the platform — a form you cannot complete with your setup, a page that is unusable with your screen reader, anything at all — tell us and we will fix it or find another way to get you through the process. You can also ask for any camp material in another format.

Message us on WhatsApp at +44 7507 548712 or email any @swproject.co.uk address you have for us. Tell us what you were trying to do and what got in the way; the person who reads your message can actually change the thing.

Enforcement

If you are not happy with how we respond to a complaint about accessibility, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) in the UK for further guidance.
